Capiznon, sometimes called Capiceño, or natively Bisaya nga Kinapisnon, is primarily spoken in the province of Capiz, found in the Philippines’ densely populated Western Visayas, located roughly in the center of the country. Communities of Capiznon speakers can also be found in the provinces of Iloilo, Aklan, Masbate, and Romblon. In Capiz, the language is spoken in the municipalities of Roxas City, Ivisan, Panay, Panitan, Maayon, Dao, Pilar, Mambusao, Pontevedra, President Roxas, Sapi-an, Sigma, Cuartero, Dumarao, Dumalag, Jamindan, and Tapaz. In Iloilo, the language is used in Batad, Calinog, Bingawan, Lemery, Passi City, Lambunao, Carles, Estancia, Sara, San Rafael, Concepcion, San Dionisio, Balasan, San Enrique, and Ajuy. Other provinces have fewer Capiznon speakers: in Aklan, they’re found in Altavas, Batan, Balete, and Libacao; in Masbate, in Balud and Mandaon; and in Romblon, in Cajidiocan, Magdiwang, and San Fernando.
Capiznon is largely similar to Hiligaynon, but it has its own accent and unique vocabulary, influenced by Aklanon and Waray.
